1- Destination weddings are typically less expensive than local weddings

If you are having your weddings in Canada, you are looking for so many different vendors, which add up quickly. For most local weddings, this can add ups to more than 25k and even North of 30k if you include the honeymoon. But, for destination wedding, the trip for two and wedding package, which is often free in many resorts, can be as low as 1-2k. Particularly if the chosen package includes free trips for the couple due to the number of guests traveling. So if you consider this cost, as well as the cost for the dress, groom attire, gifts for the bridal party, photography and possible transportation for your photographer, if you choose one local to you, it can add to as low as 8-10k, much lower than what it would cost you for a local wedding.

2- Spending a week with all your friends and family in one location

For local Ottawa weddings, you would only spend one day with your loved ones and then everyone part ways. For destination weddings, you have the opportunity to spend a lot of quality time with them. You get on the plane as a group, you spend your days at the beach together and other activities. Then one of the day is the wedding, so it is even more special than the other fun days you just had together. After your week in the sun, you go home full of memories of a great trip and a beautiful wedding.

3- It is easier to plan than a local wedding

It is easier to plan than a local wedding, particularly if you have someone to guide you through it. You still have to choose a location, plan your trip, book your travel and plan the wedding, but you only have to speak to a handful of vendors to make it happen. You also have fewer choices to choose from, which can be a good thing if you are indecisive or are happy with the options they have. Of course if you want something special you can bring special details or decor with you or upgrade your package at your resort

4- Bonus! And if you live in Ottawa… having a destination wedding in the sun in winter is warm!!
