Christina and Dominic Mackenzie King Estate Engagement

Christina and Dominic had a Mackenzie King Estate engagement session because the ruins would work nicely with their Harry Potter themed wedding. We were so lucky to get gorgeous and warm fall weather for their engagement session. Christina and Dominic met in University when they were both in sorority and fraternity. They wanted to have some details included in their session and this is why Dominic wore his fraternity pin and Christina wore her sorority bracelet. I love how they included these small intentional details in their session. I also loved how Dominic designed a yin and yang engagement ring/wedding ring combo for Christina, she will get the second half on her wedding day!

After taking some photographs near the ruins, we toured the property to go by the domain. I last visited the Mackenzie King Estate on my birthday when my mom visited and we ate the most amazing full afternoon tea on the terrace! Unfortunately, no yummy scones and finger sandwiches were eaten in the photographing of this session! Michael and I are definitively intending in going back to the Mackenzie King Estate next summer!

We spent more time in the Mackenzie King Estate gardens, and toured the nearby ruins. Since they are new to the area (Dominic only moved to Ottawa this fall) and had never been to the Champlain lookout, I made it my mission to show them one of my favorite Gatineau Park lookout! So we did a small detour at sunset to admire one of the best view in the region and photograph some golden hour portraits. Golden hour is my favourite time of day to photograph couples and the lookout stands at the top of the mountain providing great views. The Champlain lookout was pretty busy, likely due to the fact that it was a cloudless warm fall day after the worst summer on record!
