National Gallery Engagement

Anny and Louis were the cutest for their National Gallery engagement in downtown Ottawa! They love visiting museums together – almost as much as they love their cats – so the National Gallery of Canada was a great fit for their engagement photography session. Anny and Louis met at work (just like we did). Although they work for the same company, they do not work in the same department.

They had seen an engagement session I photographed last summer around the Byward Market and the National Gallery, and wanted a similar feel for their session. We had to change the date session because a thunderstorm was forecasted on Sunday night, and since last Saturday was a rare Saturday that I was not photographing a wedding, we rescheduled their National Gallery engagement session a day earlier. Although it was really warm, the weather was absolutely perfect to photograph an engagement session. The the Byward Market patios were buzzing, the tourists were photographing the sights, the sun was shining and the light was amazing; a perfect summer day in the nation’s capital!

With the construction going on right now at the National Gallery and the music festival in Major Hill Park, I could not bring Anny and Louis to the same locations we went to last summer. However, it was like an adventure finding new great locations around the museum to get the key architectural photographs they were looking for. In addition to finding locations with no tourist – pretty hard if you ask me – that had the museum in the background, also found wild rose bushes and tall grasses in the middle of downtown. Such a nice surprise! The sun was so strong that we had to walk a little longer around to wait for the sunset and get a few portraits with the Parliament in the back ground. But if you ask me, it was well worth the wait!!

Anny and Louis are getting married next summer at, you guessed it, one of Ottawa’s museum, the Nature Museum! Who wouldn’t want to get married in a castle? We cannot wait to photograph their wedding and celebrate their love!!

Anny and Louis, I had such an amazing night with you guys! I love how much fun you have together and all the laughter! I cannot wait to laugh some more with you on your wedding day!!
