When I first heard about the renovation of the National Art Center or NAC, I was suspicious and had really low expectation. I was thinking, how can the renovation really make a difference to the NAC which was a dark black box with bright red carpets. You see, I had only been to the NAC three times before the renovation. Twice for graduation ceremonies to receive diplomas, and once with my students when I was a teacher to go listen to a play. I was expecting a small facelift where the outside of the building would look nicer, but the inside would remain the same dark NAC.
You cannot imagine my surprise when I saw that they were putting in a large glass atrium, bringing in much need light and brightness. Fast forward to this summer when I had the opportunity to photograph the NAC O’Born Room! Even better, it was to photograph a gorgeous bride, in a lovely gown, in the surprisingly light and airy NAC O’Born room, with the most amazing flower doorway designed by my girl Carla from Capital Florist.
I loved observing Carla put the final touches on the largest flower arch I have ever seen. It went perfectly with the O’Born room which makes and amazing wedding venue. Since that day, I have now returned to the NAC a couple of times, including for a different wedding! What I love the most about the NAC O’Born room as an amazing wedding venue is the view from those floor to ceiling windows! You can see the splendor of the Chateau Laurier in the background and it is truly breath taking at sunset. Plus the food is amazing! So if you are wondering where you should get married, you should definitely keep the O’Born room on your short Ottawa Wedding Venue list!
