This is the fifth instalment of Our Wedding Story. You can read Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4 before if you would like.
After spending all our cocktail hour hanging out with guests, we were able sit and eat the yummy dinner we picked for our “wedding breakfast”. In addition to be breathtakingly gorgeous, our venue had AMAZING food and HUGE portion sizes. No guests were left hungry and we ate like the kings and queens that we were!
It was also a great opportunity to see the décor details in the space. I put a lot of efforts in the reception dinner details and I loved every single one of them! The Ivy coordinator and staff put the all the decoration perfectly and I could not have been happier of the results. And of course, the cake I bake was not too shabby!
We did our speeches during dessert and it gave our guests something to do. Our officiant friend also MC-ed for us and we love it! I definitively recommend doing them during desert and keeping it short and sweet. Guest get bored easily and there is nothing worse than speeches that drag on.
We had the first dance and cake cutting a little later in the evening after having a “photo booth”. Not the best timing for the first dance and cake cutting if I must admit. Earlier on would have been much better. But the “photo booth” was a hit! We thought it would be a great opportunity to take photos with our friend and family. We didn’t have props because I wanted nice and unobstructed photos with the guests.
But of course the lack of props did not stop the guest from being silly!
Next time, in Part 6, I will talk about our post wedding activities and why making your wedding a Wedding Weekend is a great idea!
