I was so excited when I heard that a skating rink was being installed on Parliament Hill for Canada 150! I can’t think of a more Canadian thing to do than Skating on Parliament Hill. I was so happy when Lana and Anthony agreed to have an activity based photography session and skate on Parliament Hill. Skating engagement sessions are my favourite type of winter photography session.
I met Lana and Anthony at City Hall where the Rink of Dreams was bursting with skaters, and we walked to Parliament Hill together. We stopped near the National Art Center to take some portraits with Parliament and the Chateau Laurier in the background.
It was a beautiful mild day to skate on Parliament Hill and the rink was full of people. We were still able to capture a few images of them skating. After removing our skates, we walk behind Parliament to get a better view of the National Gallery of Canada.
It was great to hang out with Lana and Anthony and to be able to capture them as a couple. Anthony plays hockey so it was extra special going skating with them! Although they have been together for a while, they have spent most of their relationship living in different cities or provinces. They met in Kingston when they were in University. Shortly after, Lana moved by to Nova Scotia and Anthony to Toronto. Lana move to Ottawa about 3 years ago and they have been reunited for a year or two.
This session was really special to me because they are great friends of mine and were guests at our own wedding. It was so great to be able to document their love! They are also our puppy’s favourite aunt and uncle and our go to puppy sitter. Parker gets SO excited when she visits them, but always return exhausted and sleeps for two days strait.
Beautiful pictures and a lovely blog!
