When I was talking with Benna and Jeff about their engagement session, we talked about doing it at Andrew Haydon Park which was where Jeff proposed to Brenna. But Brenna dreamed about doing a lavender field engagement session. I called a couple of local lavender fields to see if we could do their engagement session there, but unfortunately with the bad winter we got, most of their lavender did not survive the winter. After looking at the different lavender fields in the area, they decided to go to La Maison Lavande for their lavender field engagement session.
We drove the two hours to St-Eustache where La Maison Lavande is located (only 15 minutes away from the hospital where Michael was born, and from the house where is grandmother lives). As soon as you stop the car and walk in the parking lot, you can smell the soft lavender aroma in the air (it smelled a little like the spa). Then you walk to the cute house with fragrant boutiques where you can purchase their lavender products. You can hear good music playing. In between the two boutiques you have the entrace and you finally see how vaste it is and how the music you could hear actually came from a live band that was performing for the hundreds of people visiting the lavender fields. Our first impression was one of shock, we were shock by how large and beautiful the field was and by how many different sitting areas were created.
Brenna and Jeff emailed me a few days before their La Maison Lanvande lavender field engagement to see if they could bring their golden retriever named Charlie (also a lady, just like me) to their photography engagement session. Of course, I said yes!! I was so excited that they asked because I love dogs and when I saw on their website that La Maison Lavande accepts dogs, I was secretly hoping they had a dod to bring.
The engagement session itself was so much fun! We walked around the lavender fields chasing the best light and the quiet corners. We ended up on the side where almost nobody was around abd the sunset was just behind the trees leading to romentic moments and timeless photographs. This lavender field was a light and airy photographer’s dream!
I am really surprised to say, but it is my absolute favourite discovery so far and I will definitely return with my husband and my own puppy in the near future to smell the fragrant lavender, walk the fields, watch the sunset and try the home made lavender ice cream.
Brenna and Jeff, thank you for suggesting a lavender field engagement, for discovering La Maison Lavende with me and driving all the way to St Eustache for your sunset engagement session! You guys are truly awesome and I hope you will have an amazing year in Germany xx
